𝐀 𝐖𝐄𝐄𝐊𝐄𝐍𝐃 𝐎𝐅 𝐌𝐔𝐒𝐈𝐂 𝐓𝐇𝐄𝐀𝐓𝐑𝐄 𝐃𝐄𝐋𝐈𝐆𝐇𝐓𝐒 Northern Ireland Opera & @playhousederry have moved the performance of 'The Lost Boy' to Sunday 26th May, so the last two #SalonSeries shows happen together on the same jam-packed weekend of musical melodies. First, ‘Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered' on Sat 25th May at 8pm, involving three popular home-grown talents: West-End soprano @wendymferguson, renowned pianist @ruthmcginleypianist and bassist, Peter Doherty, who all hail from the city, withJohn Gillen on drumkit. They'll be performing some stunning repertoire from the golden age of musical theatre including Gershwin, Rodgers and Hammerstein, Cole Porter and Sondheim. Next ‘The Lost Boy’ on Sunday 26th (at 3pm) with rising-star, actor and vocalist, @conor_quinnn in a spine-tingling performance which features work from cabaret, music theatre, with a small ensemble which includes piano, drums and bass. Have you booked your tickets for 'Chorus!' yet? Our brilliant NI Opera Chorus will be performing together in The Ulster Hall @waterfront_ulster_hall on 18 May at 7.30pm. It is a great opportunity to come and enjoy the power of a opera chorus performing some amazing repertoire, including works by Wagner, Purcell, Puccini, Verdi, Tchaikovsky and John Adams among others. This concert will be conducted by @jamesgrossmith and accompanied by pianist @tristanrusscher . This concert will also feature conductor Margaret Bridge @mezzo_margaret, one of NI Opera’s Artists in Development. The singers have been selected from open auditions held in Belfast and work with our regular and guest coaches over a number of months as we build up towards our main stage production in the @gohbelfast in September, which this year will be Tchaikovsky's stunning opera based on Pushkin's famous work, 'Eugene Onégin'. Making weekend plans? Come to @themacbelfast tomorrow, Saturday 13 April and immerse yourself in the world of songs from the golden age of music theatre in our staged performance 'Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered' directed by @cameronmenziesdirector You'll hear songs by composers including Gershwin, Sondheim, Porter, Rodgers and Hammerstein performed by the brilliant @wendymferguson, @ruthmcginleypianist, Peter Doherty on bass and @gillenthegreat on drumkit. About The Artists (full details on our webpage) Wendy Ferguson has performed roles in musical theatre productions in the West End, throughout the UK and internationally with roles including Madame Thénardier in Les Misérables (Queen’s Theatre London) and Carlotta in The Phantom of The Opera (Her Majesty’s Theatre, London). Pianist Ruth McGinley – Artist in Residence at the MAC in 2022 – had already gained widespread recognition as one of Ireland’s leading pianists by the age of 16. Since then, her career has been wide-ranging and daring, collaborating with some of the most acclaimed musicians working today, and straying from the typical classical-pianist journey. John Gillen is a drummer based in Belfast and has been an active member of the local music scene for almost 20 years. A graduate of the Drumtech Master Performance Course in London, John studied under the tutelage of Darryn Farrugia. Peter Doherty has over 40 years experience as MD and He has been the MD for numerous shows including the Ronan Tynan tour 2009, Irish tour of West End production of The Rat Pack, Martin John and the Swing time band. Peter has conducted two operas for North West Opera including Hansel and Gretel and La Boheme.
