‘Into The Woods’ receives rave reviews in Perth

NI Opera’s 2022 production of ‘Into The Woods’ opened in Perth for West Australian Opera in March, recreated by the original NI Opera creative team with an all-new Australian cast and conductor.

Our original production has just won the prestigious accolade of ‘Best Production’ at The Irish Times Irish Theatre Awards in Dublin so it is wonderful to see it receiving critical acclaim on the other side of the planet too!

Find out what the critics have been saying about the production in the links below.

This WA Opera production of Northern Ireland Opera’s 2022 staging, with original director Cameron Menzies on board, is a total triumph. The ingenious work of set and costume designer Niall McKeever, lighting designer Kevin Treacy and sound effects designer Russell Goldsmith is key to its success, creating a world that is as psychologically nuanced as it is magical.’ Limelight Australia

‘The mind-boggling rich symbolism of Sondheim and Lapine’s creation is beautifully enhanced by Northern Ireland Opera’s justly celebrated production of Into the Woods, which has been imported intact, right down to Niall McKeever’s breathtaking abstracted primitivist set…’ WA Today

This excellent production is a wonderful showcase of the depth of Australian artistic talent, and would be right at home on any of the top stages of the world.’ SeeSaw Magazine

WAO’s Into the Woods is lavish and impressive, with confidence drawn from its incredible cast and sure direction. Most of all it succeeds in providing the fun which is essential for a memorable journey into the woods…’ Magazine 6000
