Meet the BBC Radio 3 Recitalists for the 15th Glenarm Festival of Voice.

We’re delighted to welcome Northern Irish mezzo soprano Carolyn Dobbin and BBC New Generation Artists baritone James Atkinson and tenor Santiago Sanchez to the beautiful County Antrim coastal town of Glenarm this summer, to take part in our 15th Glenarm Festival of Voice.

These three opera singers, accompanied by pianist Simon Lepper, will each perform a recital in St Patrick’s Church in Glenarm, which will be recorded live by BBC Radio 3, then compiled into concerts for broadcast as part of the BBC Radio 3 Lunchtime Concert series. This year’s theme is ‘Landscapes’, curated by Simon Lepper.

BBC Radio 3 Recitals in St Patrick’s Church, Glenarm:

Friday 22 August, 8pm: Mezzo Soprano Carolyn Dobbin with pianist Simon Lepper

Saturday 23 August, Baritone James Atkinson with pianist Simon Lepper

Sunday 24 August, Tenor Santiago Sanchez with pianist Simon Lepper

This is a wonderful opportunity for audiences to experience a live concert recording by BBC Radio 3 here in Northern Ireland. The events are free but are strictly ticketed – you can enter the draw for tickets via BBC Shows and Tours – apply to the ticket draw here from July 18.

The 15th Glenarm Festival of Voice takes place over three days and as well as the BBC Radio 3 Recitals, includes creative activities for children in the Glenarm Castle Coach House on the morning of Saturday 23rd August, an Ulster Scots Song concert performed by mezzo soprano Carolyn Dobbin and pianist Tristan Russcher at 3pm on Saturday 23rd August in the Coach House in Glenarm Castle and culminates in an exciting vocal competition between five emerging opera singers, all born on the island of Ireland and between the ages of 18 and 28 who compete by performing arias, songs and ensemble pieces in a live competition finale on Sunday 24th August at 6.30pm.

We are grateful for the support of our principal sponsor The Arts Council of Northern Ireland, Mid and East Antrim Borough Council, Glenarm Castle and BBC Radio 3.
