Morning Melodies

A Grand Opera House Studio Series Event

A rose….By any other name would smell as sweet

Composers have used roses as a powerful metaphor for love’s complexities, their delicate beauty and potential to cause pain. Roses also symbolise themes of nature, growth, new beginnings and divine love. We have gathered music from a range of genres, from art song to opera all depicting the intertwined themes of love and roses.

‘Morning Melodies’ events run from 11am to midday in the Grand Opera House Studio. The theatre cafe will be open for tea and coffee before and after the event.

Performed by mezzo soprano Jenny Bourke with violinist Hayley Howe and pianist Frasier Hickland.
