Carla Murphy

Carla is a classical and musical theatre trained soprano based in Belfast and is trained by Debra Stuart, Ashley Fulton and Alice Johnston. Carla performed as the solo role of ‘Angel’ in “Handel’s Messiah” with the Ulster Orchestra and Belfast Philharmonic choir, both conducted by Nicholas Chalmers in the Waterfront hall in December 2022 and also performed as part of the chorus in Ulster Operatic “Evita” in the Grand Opera House in September 2023.

She is currently a member of Belfast Conservatoire conducted by Matthew Owens, where she has performed various solos including “Mozart’s Coronation Mass” and “The Sound of Music”. Carla participated in the ‘Composers in the Classroom’ programme with the Chamber Choir of Ireland in February 2023 and also in January 2024 which was conducted by Matthew Quinn. She has performed in the Royal Albert Hall and the National Concert Hall in Dublin alongside West End star, Alfie Boe and she has also performed with Kerry Ellis in the Ulster Hall. Carla made her professional debut with NI Opera in February 2024 in Phillip Glass’ “The Juniper Tree” in the Grand Opera House Studio.
