Connie McGrath
Connie McGrath is a multi award-winning, cruelty-free make-up artist based in Holywood, Northern Ireland. She graduated from the University of Ulster in 2004 with a BA Hons degree in Fine and Applied Art. Her career in make-up began in Australia where she volunteered at the Wicked of Oz FX studios in Williamstown, Melbourne. Since then, she has worked on a variety of film, television, music and theatrical productions in Belfast such as ‘Cabaret’, ‘Rumpelstiltskin’ and ‘The Importance of Being Earnest’ (MAC Theatre) and ‘Educating Rita’ (Lyric Theatre) in Belfast.
Connie worked on Season 1 of the television show ‘Krypton’ (2017), Universals’ production of ‘Dracula Untold’ (2013) and Paramount Pictures’ ‘Lost City of Z’ (2015). Connie continues to expand her knowledge of the industry through research, training and regular independent practice. She also attends the United Make-up Artist’s Expo (UMAE), The Prosthetic’s Event and The International Make-up Artists Tradeshow (IMATS) in London each year, and was assistant to Dan Frye (Shaun of the Dead, Prometheus) with the application of make-up for his live demo in 2017.
Connie continues to work in the film and theatre industry, while teaching makeup FX workshops across Northern Ireland on behalf of charities and organisations such as Into Film/NI Screen, The Prince’s Trust, Cinemagic, theatres (Lyric, Mac, Ardhowen), community arts centres, Production Services Ireland and Creative and Cultural Skills.
Connie also runs her own bridal makeup business and manufactures her own unique brand of ‘Deadly FX’ sculpting tools.
