Daryl Simpson
Daryl Simpson B.E.M., from Omagh, honed his music skills at Queen’s University (BMus), Royal Irish Academy of Music (DipMus), and Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama (PgDipMus, MMus and MOpera).
He was an inaugural ‘Young Associate Artist’ at Opera Theatre Company, performing in various operas and recitals, whilst also studying with famed Swedish Tenor Nicolai Gedda. He was then accepted to the prestigious Oper Zurich Studio, performing several roles there. Concert performances included with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, the Ulster Orchestra and the Zurich Kammer Orchestra to name a few.
In 2006 Daryl joined world renowned group the Celtic Tenors and has since led a busy international touring schedule of Europe, the US, Canada, Australia, and the middle east. The group have performed with some of the worlds top orchestras as well as achieving chart success with several CD and DVD recordings.
In 1998 he founded the Omagh Community Youth Choir to promote peace and has been Musical Director since. In 2018, Daryl was recognised with a BEM (British Empire Medal) for services to Community Relations and Peace and Reconciliation In Northern Ireland in the Queen’s New Year Honours.
