James Cooper

James is a Northern Irish Bass based in Belfast and performing across the UK. Having joined the NI Opera Chorus for their 2018 and 2019 productions of Rigoletto and Die Fledermaus respectively, James is also a former member of the Belfast Philharmonic Choir and in 2023 joined Capella Caeciliana for their performance of Bach’s St John’s Passion to mark the 25th Anniversary of the Good Friday Agreement.

James is a part of the original cast of The Belfast Ensemble’s award-winning Abomination: A DUP Opera, performing this work in Belfast and in its tour of London and Brighton.

In 2023 James joined the NI Opera Chorus once again for its sell-out performance of Tosca, and is making his opera role debut as the Husband in NI Opera’s 2024 production of The Juniper Tree.
