Sarah Alcorn
Sarah is a mezzo-soprano based in Belfast, but originating from Cheshire. She completed a BMus at Sheffield University. After moving to Northern Ireland, Sarah studied singing with Betty Orr, received tuition from Kathryn Harries and took part in masterclasses with Ian Partridge, Thomas Allen and Kiri Te Kanawa. She attended the Oxenfoord International Summer School and Royal Academy of Music Summer School, working with Malcolm Martineau and Linda Ormiston.
As a member of Castleward Opera, Sarah sang in the chorus for numerous productions, including Un Ballo in Maschera and La Boheme. She took on small roles, including the Sorceress in Dido and Aeneas and sang the part of Veronique in a touring production of Dr Miracle by Bizet.With the chamber choir Cappella Caeciliana, Sarah has sung in a variety of concerts and interesting venues, most recently performing in three spaces at the Titanic Museum. She was delighted to sing with the choir to accompany Andrea Bocelli at the SSE Arena in September 2022. In March this year, she performed with Christian Forshaw, renowned saxophonist and composer in a candlelit concert at Portico. Sarah sang with NI Opera in Puccini’s Tosca in 2011 and Wagner’s The Flying Dutchman in 2013 and she is delighted to return this year a member of the chorus for the upcoming production of Eugene Onégin
