An evening of music with the Ulster Orchestra which starts with Schumann’s Violin Concerto performed by Sayaka Shoji and conducted by Dinis Sousa.
Then, in the company of a female chorus from Northern Ireland Opera with soloists Catherine Donnelly and Mary McCabe, we head to an Athenian forest for an hour, for Mendelssohn’s complete incidental music for A Midsummer Night’s Dream. They will be joined by actor Harry Lambert, performing different roles including Oberon, Puck, Theseus and Lysander.
Skittish fairies, star-crossed lovers and even the braying of a donkey find their way into the score, which matches the darting, whimsical Shakespeare tale to perfection.
