The Northern Ireland Opera Chorus performed at a fundraising evening in The Ulster Hall for Sólás.
Established in 2009, Sólás is a special needs charity which supports children and young people with a broad range of additional needs including Autism. They are based in South Belfast; however, their work extends across Northern Ireland.
The Northern Ireland Opera Chorus performed a fifteen minute set:
- The Champagne Chorus, Die Fledermaus, Johann Strauss– full chorus with soloists soprano Petra Wells, mezzo soprano Jenny Bourke, baritone Seamus Brady
- The Humming Chorus, Madame Butterfly, Puccini – full chorus
- Make Our Garden Grow, Candide, Leonard Bernstein – full chorus with soloists soprano Susan Shepherd, tenor Desmond Havlin
We then performed a beautiful song with the children of Sólás written especially for them by composer Matthew Owens. The evening included performances by Hard Rain Soloist Ensemble, M’ANAM, The Ulster Consort and The Cross Border Youth Orchestra.
